COURSES
Previous visitors to the site will note that the accredited courses will now be offered in 2010 and not in 2009 as previously announced. However the part time courses that are the equivalentof Certificate Two will still be presented.
From 2009 Stage Door will be at KENT St High School Performing Arts Centre and the following courses will be offered
CERTIFICATE in (MUSIC THEATRE) - 1 YR
CERTIFICATE in (ACTING) - 1 YR (Details to be published Nov)
CERTIFICATE in (DANCE) - 1 YR (Details to be published Nov)
• All courses are taken out of work and school hours to facilitate those that wish to do the course as additional to school, work or other studies.
• Because of the flexibility available to us it is possible to take additional studies, at no extra cost and they will not be part of your assessment e.g., extra dance or extra acting. These are subject to course numbers and availability.
• It will also be possible for students to take part in productions as an addition to their studies and this may be accredited towards course work.
• Music Theatre certificate students must have private singing lessons either with their current teacher or at Stage Door in addition to their course.
• Courses will be part time and a minimum of 10 hours per week plus voluntary classes available.
• All Courses will work in accordance to the normal University Timetables for approximately 22 contact weeks per year, plus extra weeks for performance work
FEES
• FEES FOR ALL COURSES $4400 (incl GST)
• AMENITIES FEE $99 all students per annum
• APPLICATION FEE $110 all courses
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
APPLICANTS
Must be 16 yrs or over in the year of the course and show at interview and audition an aptitude, commitment and focus on their chosen study area.
A sufficient standard of singing will apply to Music Theatre students as will acting and dancing skills to those respective courses. Beginners will be accepted if aptitude is shown.
A maximum number of 20 students will be accepted for each Course
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
THERE WILL BE ONE SET OF AUDITIONS FOR ALL COURSES IN THE FIRST WEEK OF DECEMBER OF EACH YEAR WITH LATE APPLICANT’S AUDITIONS IN THE SECOND WEEK OF JANUARY
Applicants will be notified of their audition time once applications have been received.
For the Music Theatre Course, two contrasting songs of a total of 4 minutes duration must be prepared along with one monologue of no more than 2 minutes duration. There will also be a dance/movement audition Please supply your own pianist
For the Acting Course two contrasting monologues must be prepared (one contemporary and one classical), both to be of no more than 2 minutes duration.(Free choice)
For the Dance Course a private audition and interview with the Director of Dance will be required.
OVERSEAS or EASTERN STATES applicants may send video applications but please make contact with us first by email to ascertain fees and procedure details.
PAYMENT OF FEES
Full fees must be paid within 7 days (before 5 pm of the final day) of advice of the acceptance into a course. This will be strictly adhered too and those that default will forfeit their place for another acceptable applicant and if required re audition if they still seek a place. FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE except under extraordinary conditions (please read policy statement on this web site).

Commit to the course with full payment of fees
After fulfilling the above requirements, your position in the course will be guaranteed for the following year.

It is worth noting that we allow the student to attend any extra classes they wish once they have enrolled for this course, at no extra cost. This may include extra Acting, Singing or Dancing classes.
The Singing and Piano Lessons are available at a discounted rate but are extra costs to the course as they involve one to one teaching.
This Course is set up particularly for those that are unable to do a full time course but wish to work or do other studies, or are still at school (Year 11 or 12).
It is designed to prepare the student for audition for either the profession or further study.
There are 22 group classes all on Saturdays for each, except for piano (private) and singing (private) and dance (group) for which there are 40 classes.
Dance takes place during the week evenings as does the optional Choir.
